Course Details - Northern Dunes

Northern Dunes is a par 72, 18-hole championship-style golf course that reaches 6,400 yards from the back tees. The course rolls, twists and winds through some of the finest land in the Heart of the South Bruce Peninsula.

Our course, approximately 15 kilometres from Lake Huron & Sauble Beach, was laid out by famed Canadian designer Steve Young. Location was key in the development of Northern Dunes and it is located central to major tourist areas such as Owen Sound, Wiarton & Sauble Beach. Being only 10 minutes from each destination. Northern Dunes is accessible from all directions and shares the beauty of the Peninsula with those that come to enjoy it year after year.

What Steve Young created at Northern Dunes is a Scottish links course with a contemporary feeling, with lots of long par-4s and bunkers strategically placed and filled with natural sand. The greens are large and there are many bunkers, making club selection and ball placement necessary to shooting a good round. The terrain is gently rolling with some undulations as you travel through the Dunes, but the course is still a very enjoyable walk.

For the most part, the front nine was built over acres of natural sand dunes. There is some forest areas with some shelter from the winds coming off Lake Huron, but be careful when playing because you might not feel the winds where you stand, but its quite another story as you’re hitting balls above the tree level.

The back nine involved some major earth moving, shaping and forming. Notwithstanding, most of the holes look and feel as though Mother Nature herself placed them there.
